Inditex has expanded fast in the recent years through both online and physical channels. It is headquartered at Arteixo, A Coruña, Spain. The company is selling in 96 markets through its several brands. Its flagship brand is ZARA with the highest number of retail stores globally. Market expansion has led to growth in the size of its human capital as well. The number of employees working for Inditex grew from 162,450 in 2016 to 171, 839 in 2017. Management of human resources is an important focus at Inditex. While its staff size has increased a lot in the recent years, the brand is now extremely cautious about their management and training.
Apart from investing in IT and other areas for better HRM, the brand is focusing on performance management through innovative training modules designed especially keeping the education needs of its human capital in mind. In 2017, it rolled out its e-commerce platform in key markets in Asia. ZARA accounts for the largest part of Inditex’s revenue and is the oldest brand in its portfolio.
